Joey, my 10-year-old Golden, has been quite displeased with the mild winter, while most of us humans have thoroughly enjoyed it! But as to be expected in this crazy state, Mother Nature enjoys throwing us a few curveballs, the most recent being these late March snowstorms!
Since this winter has been so disappointing for Joey, I’ve been getting him out to play a lot this past week. But I thought we needed to honor Joey’s love of winter in greater fashion due to his sadness this season.

These were from yesterday’s beautiful outing. After he dives headfirst into the snow and wiggles and rolls out all his energy, he loves to get comfy and take in everything going on around us.
I mean…seriously…
He loves finding giant pinecones in our yard and completely shredding them.
It’s the head first dive! As soon as he gets to the snow, head straight in and the body follows as he burrows in!
After the burrow comes the wiggle rolls!

With Joey’s long fur, I attempt to keep his paw fur trimmed to help reduce the iceballs that form between his pads. But those grinch toes can get outta control sometimes. If I know we’ll be out for a long time or it’s really cold, I tend to put his booties on. I could find nothing other than Pawz booties that would actually stay on his feet. They help so much to keep his paws from turning into solid snowballs, which means he gets to enjoy the snow longer! If conditions don’t call for booties, I use Musher’s Secret to keep his lil feeties and pads happy, which is helpful for summer heat, too!

Thanks for putting up with my walk through memory lane of Joey’s love for snow. I usually enjoy the snow, especially at the beginning of the season. But this pup has brought more joy to my winters sharing his absolute, pure excitement for snow with me. What a blessing to be his human.
